Sudan Archives Celebrates at Webster Hall

On Thursday, January 29, Sudan Archives took the stage at the sold-out Webster Hall in New York City as she continued her North American leg of The BPM tour.

The tour, named after her third studio album, which was released October 17, 2025, began on January 16, in Tucson, AZ, and will stretch through the current schedule showing April 26 in Miami, FL.

Taking deep inspiration from her parents’ roots in Michigan and Illinois, The BPM is a layering of dance music. This fusion serves as a theme for the tour visuals, with Sudan taking the stage as her alter ego, Gadget Girl. The energy was electric.

Through the hour-and-a-half set, Sudan displayed complete command of the stage. Outside of “A Bug’s Life,” in which a backup dancer joined in, she was all alone, center stage. Violin riffs and electronic drum beats served to sandwich pristine vocals and dancing, as neither Sudan nor the crowd seemed to ever really stop for more than a beat or two. At two different points, Sudan even found herself in the crowd.

After the main set concluded, Sudan brought out her opener, Halima, to kick off the encore with her song “Cocoa Body.” Two or three songs later, it was the crowd’s turn as the night was made extra special by it being Sudan Archives’ 31st birthday. With flowers in her hand and a large smile across her face, the night had come to an end.
