New York City-based alt-rock band People I’ve Met released “For Hire” on Tuesday, Jan. 28 via Interscope Records. The single follows the trio’s December 2025 debut “Promise.”
“For Hire” was produced by People I’ve Met alongside Noah Conrad, who has worked with Chappell Roan and Role Model. Martin explained the band wanted to have fun showing their range and provide a different perspective on getting over someone. The lyric you’re not getting us for hire conveys the sentiment of not being available only when convenient for someone else.
Capturing the barrage of raw, conflicting emotions that follow an important breakup, “For Hire” sits on top of a buoyant melody and enveloping layers of vocals, the “tired misbehaver” comes to terms with mistakes while setting boundaries.
The band features vocalist and guitarist Moses Martin, drummer Orlando Wiltshire and bassist Andrew Suster. Wiltshire and Suster have known each other since middle school, where they performed together in their school’s jazz band. The two began making music in Wiltshire’s garage during high school before bringing Martin into the fold.
The trio, formerly known as DANCER, will play its first show of 2026 at Main Drag Music in Brooklyn on Wednesday, Feb. 12, with Jaden Andreone opening.
Tickets for the Feb. 12 show are available here.
