The Build Back Better Act, a roughly $1.8 trillion social spending and climate package, passed the House of Representatives Friday, and local health providers and politicians cheered.
“Our families have been waiting for a lifeline, and I applaud Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi and the Democratic New York congressional delegation for delivering on this landmark legislation,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement Friday. These national investments are historic and will ensure the state can create jobs, improve lives and finally address the climate crisis without adding to the tax burden of the middle class, she said.
