City ranks low on list of employment recovery

New York’s jobs recovery puts the city second from the bottom in a ranking of 75 metropolitan areas and how they have recovered from the Covid-19 economic hit.
 
Only New Orleans has more ground to cover than the Big Apple, according to an analysis of the latest Current Employer Statistics survey from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The figures are through the end of last year.
 
The city’s initial pandemic job drop was substantial: While the country’s employment level decreased by 15%, New York’s dropped by 20%.
