Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Offers Free Consultations for NYC Artists This Week

In effort to support NYC’s music industry, Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA) – a not-for-profit organization that provides legal services to artists and arts organizations in the New York area – has partnered with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment to underwrite one year of membership with VLA through a week-long legal clinic for creatives in the music industry.

The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) was created in the 1960s to support filming of movies and televisions shows in the five boroughs, and has expanded over the past 50+ years to support and strengthen New York City’s creative economy, making it accessible to all.

MOME comprises the Film Office, which coordinates on location production throughout the five boroughs; NYC Media, the city’s official broadcast network and production group; the Press Credentials Office, and Programs and Initiatives to advance industry and workforce development across NYC’s creative sectors.

The Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts clinic offers consultations on November 19, 20 and 21, which will present information to artists that can support them in Arts-related areas of legal assistance. Register here.
