Brooklyn’s psychedelic, indie-funk band, PEAK, are back with Vanishing Skies, their third full-length album. They’re kicking things off with a hometown release show at The Sultan Room on July 11, followed by a run of Northeast dates through September. The record picks up where they left off on 2021’s Choppy Water.
PEAK started out as Jeremy Hilliard’s solo project in 2016 but quickly turned into a full band with serious talent. Drummer Kito Bovenschulte (Particle), bassist Josh T. Carter (Hayley Jane & The Primates), and keyboardist Johnny Young round out the lineup, bringing in deep improv roots, funk rhythms, and a spacey, soulful edge. Their sound mixes jam-rock, indie, blues, and funk with nods to everything from Radiohead to Jack White and Miles Davis.
PEAK’s new album Vanishing Skies officially dropped earlier this year, but they’re keeping the momentum going with a batch of bonus tracks coming July 8. Recorded at Horizon Sound in Sunset Park, the record sharpens the band’s blend of jam-funk and indie grit, building off the creative strides they made on 2021’s Choppy Water. Engineered by Michelle Young and mixed by Jason “Jocko” Randall, the project dials deeper into their sound while keeping the songwriting front and center.
