After announcing the surprise return of Pavement for a pre-party, the Mosswood Meltdown festival in Oakland, Ca., has secured Iggy Pop and Bikini Kill as its headliners. The event will take place July 18-19 at Mosswood Park and will be hosted by director John Waters.
Also set to appear are Otoboke Beaver, Scowl, the Dirtbombs, Fred Armisen’s Ramones cover band the Return of Jackie & Judy with Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein, the Dead Milkmen and Frankie & the Witch Fingers.
For Pop, Mosswood Meltdown will follow his return to the Coachella festival in April for the first time in 23 years. As for Bikini Kill, this is the Kathleen Hanna-led group’s first announced show of 2026 after performing only once last year.
Pavement will be joined by Wednesday and Vivian Girls at the July 17 pre-party. The group had told fans its one-off October 2024 performance in New York would be its “last show for a long time,” but Stephen Malkmus and company did play two festivals, a warmup club gig and CBS’ The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in 2025 while helping promote the off-kilter film Pavements.
Pavement has since announced several additional 2026 shows in Portland, Or. (July 18), St. Paul, Mn. (July 21), Chicago (July 22), Cleveland (July 23), Richmond, Va. (July 25) and Nashville (July 27).
