Funk Lords Kung Fu and Night Zero Band Descend Upon Putnam Place Dec. 19

Saratoga Springs is getting funky this weekend, as legendary Northeast funksters Kung Fu arrive on Friday, December 19, for a now-rare performance. Joining them are prog-funk powerhouse, Night Zero Band, who has been on a run throughout the Northeast this past year, dropping heaters with each performance.

Proud to be firmly installed in the new-funk movement, Kung Fu is quickly popularizing their unique sonic contribution, blurring the line between intense electro-fusion, and blistering dance arrangements. Although the ensemble cast enjoys a seasoned pedigree that reads like a late-night summer festival all-star jam, with 70’s funk-fusion meets modern dance party.

Kung Fu features Tim Palmieri (guitar & vocals), Robert Somerville (tenor sax & vocals), Beau Sasser (keyboards & vocals), Chris DeAngelis (bass guitar & vocals), and Adrian Tramontano (drums/percussion).

Night Zero – named for the night before the big event, the one you swear you’ll take it easy, but never do. Night Zero is the pre-party that becomes the main event, the night out you didn’t see coming but won’t soon forget. And now, it’s a band. Featuring a rotating cast of incredible artists brings together some of the jam scene’s most revered players for a raw, unscripted throwdown that blends rock, funk, jazz, and deep improvisation with nothing off-limits.

The core lineup is a one-of-a-kind fusion of styles and personalities, rarely seen together on one stage.  Rob Compa (Dopapod), known for his mind-bending guitar work and precision improvisation. Zdenek  Gubb (Twiddle), whose unmistakable bass tone and groove drive every jam with grit and finesse. Adrian Tramontano (Kung Fu/Twiddle), a rhythmic powerhouse with jaw-dropping chops and relentless energy. Leon Campos (Dwight & Nicole, Kat Wright Band), whose warm, soulful keys bring depth and color to every note.

These are players who don’t just complement each other, they push each other, unlocking something new every time they play. The kind of chemistry you can’t plan, only discover, when the right musicians collide at the right moment.

This show is part of New York State Music’s Jam for Tots Series. Please consider bringing a new, unwrapped, toy for our donation box and help spread holiday cheer to someone who can use a little extra help this holiday season.
