Elephant Back is an alternative/indie rock duo out of Syracuse. Their creative spirit is imbued in every lick, every beat of kick drum, and every thump of the bass. With a wisp of lory and positivity, they strive to take over the mainstream, bringing their music to the masses.
The name Elephant Back emanates strength. Wars have been won on the backs of Elephants. And so the members, Dave and Sarah Snediker embolden their listeners by spreading their music to the masses through positive and creative thinking. Forming in 2020, during uncertain times, Elephant Back took the opportunity to write and innovate and engage tunes ranging from the bold, elevated rock of “Go To War” to the ever gentle “Amaranthine”. While also adding the pop punk vibes of “Kiss The Sky” and their own version of R&B with “I, Wonder”. No matter where you listen on their debut album, Elephant Back, you are bound to find a song for you. The album’s strength relies on its ability to seamlessly cross genre boundaries.
Moving right into their current double albums released in December of 2023, we see them pushing the boundaries even further, traveling nationally and internationally to get the very best recordings possible. The White Album, a singer-songwriter album, features two songs recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. And the pumping rock album, The Black Album, was nominated by the Syracuse Area Music Awards for Best Rock Album.

Now, Elephant Back returns to the music scene with their album Evolution. The record opens with “Mine,” a powerful track reminiscent of Modest Mouse that immediately hooks the listener. Following it is “Fight for You,” a grittier song that channels the raw, smoky energy of Tom Waits. The third track, “What a Life,” opens with a slow yet powerful buildup. The vocals draw you into a dreamlike atmosphere, as the lyrics paint images of a psychedelic world. Next comes “Goodnight,” a slower track that carries a Midwest resonance, gently pulling you into its hypnotic sound. Following this is “Sound Bite,” an energetic punk track that celebrates songwriting and the job of finding a song everyone can sing together. The album concludes with “Love Scene,” a powerful track that will rock your socks off with its explosive energy.
Overall, Evolution showcases Elephant Back’s impressive range as a band. Each track on the album feels different, yet they are all connected under a shared theme. For more information on Elephant Back, click here.
