Dave Matthews Band returned to Northwell at Jones Beach Theater on Wednesday, June 11. The performance, one of five New York stops during the band’s Summer 2025 tour, included several rarities and a special tribute.
The bay breeze cooled the warm evening air as the crowd waited for the band to take the stage, and the sky glowed over the packed amphitheater as the sun went down half an hour into the set.

The 18-song set opened with “Drunken Soldier,” the first time the song has been played as an opener, followed by “Grey Street.” Other highlights included a cover of “God Only Knows,” a tribute to Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, who passed away earlier that day, and the rarely played “Rhyme & Reason” and “Spoon,” both tour debuts.
Dave made some comments about the situation in Los Angeles and the fact that we seem to be “moving in the wrong direction. “Everybody… is our neighbor, so we should be looking out for everybody,” Matthews encouraged from the stage. The set was heavy on mid 1990s to early 2000s tracks, with only three songs from albums released after 2010. The encore included Dave performing “Peace on Earth” solo and “Two Step.”
The band will continue their tour through the Southeast and the Midwest and will return to New York in July, playing two back-to-back shows at Broadview Stage at SPAC in Saratoga Springs on July 18 and 29.
