Photo City Music Hall in Rochester held their Thanksgiving-Eve show dedicating 3 entire sets to one band, Cut Me Up, Genny. Their name, a play on the Taking Back Sunday song “Cut me up Jenny” and the Genesee Brewing Company in Rochester, is only the beginning of these artists’ creativity.
Formed in 2017, playing their first show at the Bug Jar in Rochester, came Emo genre classics like “Dead” by My Chemical Romance to a pop-punk rendition of “Shake it off” by Taylor Swift, it’s clear to see why Cut Me Up Genny was voted Rochester’s #1 cover band in 2024 and they are looking to claim the title again for 2025.

The show was held at Photo City Music Hall, one of the premier venues for music in Rochester. And the perfect place to hold the high energy, off the wall night that took place. Cut Me Up, Genny member Mitch will also be playing a show at this location on Dec 6 with original work with the band Empty Mouth.
From the soundcheck to the last song, there wasn’t a dull moment. “We want the people that come to our shows to feel like they went to Warped Tour for the day,” proclaimed guitarist Kurt.

And that is exactly what Cut Me Up Genny delivered. A lively set of nearly 4 hours of talented music, segway jokes and banter and a feeling of musical community.

The nights set list included songs like “Stacey’s Mom” by Fountains of Wayne to the Beastie Boys “Fight For Your Right (to Party)”. Such a wide variety to keep the energy up and the fans happy.
