The Disco Biscuits brought their 30th anniversary tour and celebration to the Westcott Theater in Syracuse on Tuesday, June 17.
The four piece jam-band was formed in Philadelphia, though they have treated Upstate New York like a second home, with nearby Lafayette hosting the band’s own two day festival, BISCOLAND, in 2023 and 2024, and Camp Home Again recently taking residence in Woodstock over June 18-19. The band, known for their prolific live performances, with their own take on trance-fusion, blending electronica and jam-rock combined with an extravagant light show.
The Westcott Theater was filled wall to wall with concert goers in the minutes leading up to the first set, making passing across the venue nearly impossible. At long last, it was time for the Disco Biscuits! The band, playing mostly in the shadows to start, opened with “Another Spin”. The hypnotic rhythms of the song built in intensity, before a climatic explosion burst into a colorful and dramatic light show. The band kept the set’s momentum going with “Portal to an Empty Head” next, which saw the crowd shouting back the song’s chorus to the band.

The band’s first set would last well over 75 minutes, before the Biscuits took their customary (and much deserved) intermission break. The second set saw the band return with the same feverish energy as the first set. Returning to the stage with early composition “Morph Dusseldorf”, the band rattled off a nearly 16 minute rendition of the track, laced with improvisation, and would later return to a reprise of the track to end the main set, creating a palindrome set in the process.
