New York City’s aging transit network better get ready for an avalanche of federal spending.
That’s the message from transportation experts after Congress passed President Joe Biden’s $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill on Friday night. Multiple projects unique to the five boroughs will receive an unprecedented amount in federal money—“tens of billions of dollars,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s office said. The bill includes $10 billion alone for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and nearly $60 billion for regional Amtrak.
