Urgent-care providers in New York and New Jersey are temporarily closing some locations, as a surge in Covid-19 cases due to the omicron variant strains health-care staffing levels and magnifies demand for testing.
CityMD increased its total of temporarily-shuttered urgent care clinics to 31 as of Wednesday, saying the closures were necessary to properly staff its 119 locations that remain open. The temporary closures, which started last week with 19 locations in New York and New Jersey, come as most CityMD locations are operating at full capacity to handle heightened demand for Covid testing.
