Ronn Torossian, the embattled CEO of 5WPR, told staffers Friday evening that he is stepping down as CEO of the company because, he said, “I have become a distraction and the team deserves the freedom to operate in a context free of noise—noise I personally created.”
Torossian came under intense pressure from the public relations industry after Crain’s New York revealed that he had secretly purchased an industry news site back in 2014 and then used the site to bash competitors while boosting his own firm and its clients using the names of fake journalists.
