New Yorkers find small ways to support Ukraine

A general feeling of disbelief and sadness pervaded key institutions in the East Village’s Ukrainian American community following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s full-scale invasion of their home country.

“Americans told us it would happen, but it was so ridiculous that we didn’t want to believe it. Now it’s become a reality,” said Nataliya Turchak, a teller at the Ukrainian National Federal Credit Union. “We’re in disbelief.”
