McKinsey partner will be deported due to insider trading conviction

A McKinsey partner who pleaded guilty to insider trading faces certain deportation, not to mention the possibility of up to three years in prison.

Puneet Dikshit, who led McKinsey’s North America unsecured lending practice, pocketed more than $450,000 last year by trading options in a client company that he knew was about to be acquired by Goldman Sachs. His fate will be decided Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon and federal prosecutors say he should be locked up for 30 to 37 months.

“The defendant’s conduct was shocking, egregious, and brazen,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a court filing.
