A man who barricaded himself in a Yonkers home on Saturday and exchanged brief gunfire with police was found dead later that evening, police officials said.
The hours-long standoff with police began around 11 a.m. after police responded to the residence on Livingston Avenue to conduct a welfare check. When officers arrived at the front door, the man appeared emotionally distressed and told them he had a firearm, Deputy Chief Joseph Monaco said Saturday afternoon.
