I applaud Crain’s for throwing a bright spotlight on what is an increasingly serious and burdensome situation—the city’s failure to pay its obligations to charities and other nonprofits in a timely manner, forcing us to secure bridge loans and use other costly temporary means to stay afloat and provide valuable services (“Red tape snares local charities,” published Feb. 4).
We are not big corporations, and these delays have jeopardized nonprofits such as Inside Broadway, which for 40 years has introduced Broadway to public school children. Although there is hope on the horizon with the new mayor who “gets stuff done” and a comptroller who is studying this problem, I
