Job growth cools as city’s recovery still lags behind the nation’s

New York City’s jobs recovery slowed last month, after a substantial increase in October, as growth in the arts sector, at hotels and on Wall Street failed to accelerate—and sometimes even shrank.
 
City employers added 22,100 jobs last month, according to seasonally adjusted numbers released by the state Department of Labor. That’s less than half of the 50,600 jobs that were added in October. The total number of jobs was originally tallied at 40,200, but it recently was revised by state economists.   

The unemployment rate fell by 0.4%, to 9% in the city. The nation’s unemployment rate is at 4.2%.
