Food52, the 13-year-old food media and e-commerce firm based in Chelsea, has eliminated 20 employees, or about 6% of its workforce, as it restructures months after taking on a new round of investment and acquiring the Portland, Oregon-based home décor retailer Schoolhouse.
On Twitter, former workers and a few still on staff posted about the layoffs, which centered on the creative, editorial and marketing teams.
“Today [Wednesday] was an awful day at Food52,” Margaret Eby, the firm’s editorial lead, said on the site.
