New York City food delivery workers said they preferred being independent contractors because of the flexibility, according to a survey conducted by the delivery firm DoorDash and shared exclusively with Crain’s.
More than eight in 10 of the 725 people surveyed said they wanted to remain independent contractors, with nearly all of those citing the ability to pick and choose when and where they work as the reason.
“This survey confirms what we consistently hear from Dashers: that flexibility and access to earning opportunities are of utmost importance,” said a DoorDash spokesperson.
