Fleet Week inaugurates Memorial Day weekend in the city

The influx of U.S. sailors for Fleet Week is expected to combine with thousands of domestic and international tourists to provide New York City with an economic boost over Memorial Day weekend.

The 32nd year of Fleet Week opened in New York City on Thursday with Mayor Eric Adams holding court at a Marine breakfast with Department of Veterans Services’ leaders and sailors from the Navy, Marines and Coast Guard. Multiple ships are now docked along the Hudson River and across Staten Island, where they will be open for tourist visits throughout their stay in the city.
