Amid a surge in Queens’ Asian population, a wave of development is rippling across Greater Flushing, the borough’s Chinatown.
On Northern Boulevard, luxury rentals are rising from parking lots, skinny condos are springing up from strip malls, and landlords are snapping up apartment buildings that haven’t changed hands in years.
Developers are marketing the projects to Asian buyers; the Asian share of the population jumped from 547,000 to 706,000 between 2010 and 2020, or nearly 30%, according to census figures.
