Death of Hamptons caddy boss came after alcohol-fueled ‘tussle’ with best friend: lawyer

The death of a caddy master from the ultra-exclusive Maidstone Club in East Hampton was a tragic, alcohol-fueled “calamity” between best buddies, a lawyer for the accused told The Post.

Kevin Somers, 45, was drinking and hanging out with assistant caddy master Marc Dern, 34, at Dern’s home on Feb. 5 when the two argued while watching a golf tournament, according to authorities.

Dern, a married father of two young sons, is accused of punching Somers and choking him, then allegedly leaving his boss’s body on his porch for three hours before calling 911. He was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree manslaughter.
