Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate for private-sector employers went into effect Monday, days before he is set to leave office.
Under the mandate, which de Blasio announced earlier this month, business owners must verify that all their employees have received at least one dose of the Covid vaccine and “may not allow any unvaccinated workers to come to their workplace.”
The mandate does not apply to employees who do not have in-person contact with coworkers, such as those who work alone or remotely.
Employees can ask their employer for reasonable accommodations for medical or religious reasons, but employers must record the basis of any approved exemptions and keep a record
