City pubs toast a more normal St. Patrick’s Day

As it turns out, the pot of gold was the return to business as usual.

That the 2022 St. Patrick’s Day parade and festivities are happening at more or less the caliber of pre-2020 years renders the holiday’s events the first of many comeback parties for New York City, which seems ready to put the Covid-19 pandemic behind it.

“It’s a return to the celebrations that didn’t take place over the last couple years,” said Anne De Castillo, commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. “The focus is on bringing these kinds of celebrations back—that’s what we’ll see more of.”
