Broadway shows optimism, with 16 productions opening this month and next

For the first time since reopening in the fall, Broadway theaters have released sales and attendance data for individual shows.

“With the optimism that comes as spring approaches and as the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic recedes, 16 new Broadway productions are preparing to open in March and April, and audiences from across the country and around the world are returning to New York,” said Charlotte St. Martin, president of The Broadway League.

Total Broadway attendance for the week that ended March 20 was 168,999, 59% of the attendance for the same week in 2019 and also down from the previous week, when attendance hit a 2022 high
