He raised thousands of dollars to escort a group to Washington for the Jan. 6 rally that preceded the Capitol riots. A recent TV ad showed him walking through a shuttered warehouse with an assault-style rifle, vowing to do “whatever it takes” to restore the country to its “former glory.”
