Mayor Eric Adams has named Carlo Scissura, head of advocacy organization the New York Building Congress, to lead the city’s critical economic development arm, according to multiple reports.
The selection could be a mismatch between Scissura’s previous role and his new one as president and CEO of the Economic Development Corp. Sciussra will go from being an advocate of construction to leading the city’s main economic development entity with responsibility for serving as an impartial mediator during negotiations of projects. He has spent years pushing for one side: more investment.
