Brooklyn Bowl will host King Yellowman, a highly influential reggae and dancehall DJ, for a performance on Tuesday, December 16th in support of rebuilding cockpit country (Hurricane Melissa relief in Jamaica) through organizations like, American Friends Of Jamaica, World Central Kitchen, and Ghetto Youths Foundation.
Other artists accompanying King Yellowman are Johnny Osbourne, legendary Jamaican reggae dancehall artist and singer known by many as the dancehall grandfather; well known saxophonist Anant Pradhan alongside Larry McDonald who is widely celebrated as a pioneering percussionist and one of the first musicians to bring the conga drum into reggae music. Jamaican DJ singer and producer Yaadcore, viewed as a powerful force in the revival and worldwide spread of reggae rooted sound, will also take the stage. As for Red Fox and Screechy Dan, these two Jamaican born dancehall artists who first made their mark in the Brooklyn dancehall scene during the 1990s.
The “Rebuild Cockpit County” movement speaks to the large and ongoing recovery efforts taking place in the Cockpit Country region of Jamaica after the destruction left by Hurricane Melissa in late 2025. The American Friends of Jamaica is a nonprofit group that stands behind Jamaican charities and community projects that strengthen education, healthcare and economic opportunity. World Central Kitchen is a nonprofit that brings fresh nourishing meals to people living through crisis and hardship in every corner of the world. Ghetto Youths Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering support and resources to underprivileged communities and helping them build a stronger future.
The Jamaica Hurricane Relief show at Brooklyn Bowl takes place on Tuesday, December 16 with doors at 6pm at show at 6:30pm. This is a 21+ show. Tickets are available here.
