Binghamton Philharmonic Presents 70th Anniversary Season Pops Series

The Binghamton Philharmonic returns for its milestone 70th season with both sound and spectacle, bringing cinematic scores and rocking rhapsodies to life in an electrifying Pops Series.

The season opens on October 25 with a live orchestral screening of Frankenstein starring Boris Karloff, featuring conductor Michael Shapiro’s thrilling score performed in sync with the 1931 film. The evening begins with an organ prelude performed by Nancy Wildoner on the historic 1922 Robert-Morton Theatre Pipe Organ.

On December 6, the holiday spirit comes alive in the annual Winter Wonderland matinee, led by Maestro Daniel Hege and featuring the elite Vestal Voices. The concert includes festive favorites such as Sleigh Ride, The Snowman, Hanukkah Festival Overture, and a joyous holiday singalong.

February 28 brings a dynamic showcase of orchestral gems in Canons and Cannons: Pops at the Forum, also conducted by Hege. The program includes Dvorak’s Slavonic Dance No. 1, Zimmer’s Gladiator, Rodgers’ Victory at Sea, and the exhilarating 1812 Overture. A special highlight is the premiere of “Caprice” by Native American jazz composer Boyd Eagle, Maestro Hege’s grandfather.

The series closes with a high-energy tribute to Queen on May 2, 2026, featuring Jeans ‘n Classics and the Southern Tier Singers’ Collective. With chart-topping hits like “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “We Will Rock You”, and “Somebody to Love”, this grand finale promises to be a rock-symphonic spectacle.
