Ohio Group Submits Signatures For Marijuana Legalization Initiative

A group campaigning to legalize recreational marijuana in Ohio has submitted more than enough signatures to qualify a proposed ballot measure for the November election. If passed, the proposed initiative would legalize cannabis for adults and set the stage for regulated sales of recreational marijuana at licensed dispensaries.

On Wednesday, the Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol submitted petitions with more than 222,000 signatures to the Ohio Secretary of State’s office. To qualify for the ballot for the November election, state officials must certify about 125,000 signatures, giving the group a significant margin to account for signatures deemed invalid.
