‘Stereophonic,’ ‘Merrily We Roll Along,’ ‘The Outsiders,’ ‘Appropriate’ win big at the 77th Annual Tony Awards

“The Outsiders” proved that they were part of the in crowd at the 77th Annual Tony Awards. The show took home the coveted statue for best new musical. Danya Taymor also won for best director of a musical and the show picked up a Tony Award for lighting. 

The onetime Stephen Sondheim flop “Merrily We Roll Along” is a Tony Award-winning hit as it won for best musical revival. Jonathan Groff won for best lead actor in a musical for his portrayal of Franklin Shepard.
