The 76th Annual Tony Awards will not be televised this year due to the ongoing writers’ strike, according to sources.
The Tony Awards Management Committee sent a letter to the Writers Guild of America asking for a waiver to present the Tony Awards on CBS and the waiver was denied, sources say.
A meeting is planned for Monday with leaders in the theater community to see how things will move forward for this year’s ceremony, according to sources.
Options under consideration include a press conference-style presentation of the awards in June.
