Shakira, The Weeknd to headline 2025 Global Citizen Festival in Central Park

The Weeknd and Shakira are heading to Central Park this fall — and they’ll be taking the stage for a good cause.

Global Citizen on Tuesday announced the star-studded lineup for its 2025 Global Citizen Festival, set for Saturday, Sept. 27, on the Great Lawn.

The annual music-meets-activism event is returning to Manhattan with a mix of major artists.

Joining the two global headliners are rising stars Tyla, Ayra Starr and Mariah the Scientist. Actor and Global Citizen Ambassador Hugh Jackman is back as host for his 11th year.

More performers and special guests are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, the organization said in a statement.

The organization said it is looking to accomplish four goals through the festival – bringing electricity access to 1 million people across Africa; helping 30,000 children around the world access education and football; mobilizing $200 million to protect 30 million hectares of the Amazon rainforest; and registering 40,000 New Yorkers to volunteer across the five boroughs.

The Global Citizen Festival started back in 2012 and has brought some of the  in music — from Beyoncé and Billie Eilish to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Ms. Lauryn Hill — to the Central Park stage.

How do you get in?

Most tickets to the Global Citizen Festival are free, but you’ve got to earn them.

To get your tickets for free, Global Citizen says you’ll need to take action on global issues related to energy, the environment and education through the Global Citizen app. Each action you take earns you points. You then use those points to enter ticket drawings held throughout the summer.

There are also a limited number of tickets available for purchase if you want to guarantee your seats.
