Nothing Cannes Stop Spike Lee from Rooting for the Knicks

Spike Lee couldn’t make it to the New York Knicks’s first games in this year’s NBA Eastern Conference Finals because he was in western Europe. “I can’t split myself in half. But I’m there spiritually,” he told Vulture at the Cannes Film Festival during a spontaneous chat in which he also acknowledged that some people refer to him as “the Knicks pope.” Now that he’s back from France, his faith in his favorite team brought him to Indianapolis alongside fellow traveling Knicks superfans Timothée Chalamet and Ben Stiller on May 27. Ultimately, the Knicks lost, bringing the Indiana Pacers’ lead up to 3-1. Here, all the stars who were spotted courtside at Game 4, including Pacers fan 50 Cent (who might not have been wearing a “Free Diddy” shirt to the game after all).

50 Cent had the internet buzzing when posted a photo that appeared to show him at tonight’s game in a “Free Diddy” shirt. Complex suggested that he was trolling with a fake image, given that he’s wearing a different shirt in other pictures and has posted AI-generated pictures on his account before. Either way, it wasn’t a compliment: 50 Cent has been a vocal critic of Sean “Diddy” Combs, and has circulated claims that people are being paid to wear shirts in support of the disgraced mogul.
