At least ten people were arrested in Lower Manhattan on Saturday evening as anti-ICE protesters encircled Federal Plaza for several hours.
This came hot on the heels of a massive No Kings demonstration that saw tens of thousands of New Yorkers march in defiance of President Trump and his policies, including abortion rights, transgender rights, and immigrant rights.
While this mass turnout remained peaceful and brought out those of all ages, another protest that evening stood in stark contrast.
Setting off from Zuccotti Park at around 4 p.m., a group of hundreds, largely wearing black ski masks and goggles, railing against ICE for arresting immigrants at their court appearances, trudged through the rain around 26 Federal Plaza for several hours. Protesters were trailed by an army of cops wearing riot helmets and brandishing batons.

While chanting against ICE, the group tried to throw off the cops by darting down side streets and running from Foley Square to Broadway and back again.
Amidst the tumult, several people were arrested for blocking the street and clashing with cops.
In one heated moment, several officers could be seen wrestling with a protester in the street before being hauled away in cuffs. In another the group set off a flare at Foley Square, causing police to come rushing and breaking up the gathering only for them to reassemble to the other side of the building.
According to police sources, cops arrested at least ten people for blocking traffic and even hurling objects at police.
This protest came on the same day as president Trump’s 47th birthday and his controversial military parade in Washington D.C., and the culmination of a weeklong protest against ICE in the Big Apple.
