“As an apprentice, that is the year that you are trying to prove to the company and prove to yourself that you deserve to be here and that you can do this,” said Zoe Bliss Magnussen, one of the four apprentices at NYC Ballet whose year-long tryout was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“And so having that time interrupted when you’re kind of just feeling like, ‘Okay, I got this,’ it’s definitely been difficult,” she added.
As a result she’s been forced to continue her training throughout this crucial period in her career by herself in her family’s apartment.
