The massive Tedeschi Trucks Band has been given the keys to The Beacon Theatre after an incredible 10 show run, featuring special guests, amazing covers, and even an appearance by a legendary 12 million dollar Tiger guitar. The March 25 show brought the total count of shows at the Beacon Theatre by Tedeschi Trucks Band to 73 – that’s a lot of shows, yet the band still manages to sell out shows and continues to impress.
On Wednesday, March 25th, North Mississippi All Stars opened, with guitarist Luther Dickinson offering masterful blues licks. This was a great act to open for TTB as they are quintessential southern blues, sharing influences with TTB with a more traditional blues sound, rather than the big band feel of TTB. Tedeschi Trucks welcomed some members from North Mississippi All stars to sit in with them on a few songs later in the show.

Tedeschi Trucks Band opened up with a Bruce Springsteen cover “State Trooper” which featured a stripped down version of the band without Derek Trucks. The full band came on stage during “All That I Need”. The band displayed its size and versatility, giving attention to each of its members and allowing them to shine on solos.

The blend of classic blues from Susan, masterful guitar work of Derek, backed up by a crowd of incredibly talented musicians is somewhat of a spectacle. Their set included covers like “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right” by Bob Dylan, on which Susan’s soulful voice really came through. The energy peaked during “I Pity The Fool”, featuring the belting of Susan and Derek’s shredding.

The set ended with two Sly & The Family Stone covers featuring a special guest from SNL James Austin Johnson. The finale was a high energy, rocking, big band feel where everyone had a chance to shine. With this run Tedeschi Trucks Band continues to immortalize themselves in music and Beacon Theatre history.
