King Falcon Channel California Cool on New Single “Holding Out”

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to catch one of NYC’s fastest-rising alt-rock bands in a room that still smells like spilled beer and rock history, this is it. King Falcon are bringing their anthemic new single “Holding Out” home to the Lower East Side on March 10, and their show at Mercury Lounge is shaping up to be one of those “I saw them before they blew up” nights.

NYC alt-rock trio King Falcon are leaning into optimism on their latest single, “Holding Out,” out now with a sun-soaked official video that trades Brooklyn grit for Venice Beach glow.

Premiered by New Noise Magazine, “Holding Out” is a hook-heavy, feel-good anthem that balances glistening guitar riffs with breezy, radio-ready vocals. It’s a track that looks forward — not backward — built around the conscious choice to believe brighter days are ahead.

Frontman Michael Rubin calls it a turning-point song. “‘Holding Out’ is the moment you stop standing at the crossroads, choose a path that feels right, and walk it with quiet faith that better days are on their way,’” Rubin says.

That forward motion defines King Falcon in 2026. Since forming in Brooklyn in 2020, the trio — Rubin (vocals/guitar), Joe Conserva (bass), and Dipayan “Dip” Chakraborty (drums) — have carved out a reputation as one of NYC’s hardest-working young bands, logging more than 150 shows over the past two years. Their 2023 self-titled debut cracked into the streaming world, while 2025’s “Plastic Crown” hit #1 on Amazon Music’s Breakthrough Rock Playlist and made early radio waves.

On “Holding Out,” though, the band dials in something a little more expansive. The video, filmed in Venice Beach, matches the track’s hazy optimism — sunset skies, skatepark lines, crashing waves — pure California daydream. It’s a natural visual pivot that underscores the band’s widening sonic palette without sacrificing their New York backbone.

March 10 at Mercury Lounge isn’t just another tour date — it’s a hometown statement. Expect big choruses, sweat-soaked guitars, and that unmistakable New York swagger that’s carried them from Brooklyn clubs to national playlists. In a city that breeds great rock bands, King Falcon are staking their claim — and “Holding Out” might just be the song that pushes them into the next tier.

This spring, King Falcon hit the road across North America, including a hometown show at Mercury Lounge on March 10 and a run of dates supporting fellow NYC rocker Des Rocs. For a band already praised as one of the city’s most exciting indie-rock exports, “Holding Out” feels like another step toward bigger stages.

If 2025 was their breakout year, 2026 might be the one where King Falcon stop holding out — and start breaking through for good.
