Year 2026 marks a special milestone for one of the most trusted resources in architectural metal manufacturing. American Metalcraft, an Atlanta-based company was founded in 1986 by Gary Gotfredson, a structural engineer and emerging entrepreneur. What started as a small fabrication shop soon grew into a much larger production facility, offering a multitude of custom architectural metal products for projects across the nation.
In 2004, Gary saw an opportunity to expand capabilities in the metal industry and founded AMI’s sister company, Finishing Dynamics, based in Villa Rica, Georgia. Finishing Dynamics became an approved applicator for Sherwin Williams and PPG extrusion coatings, offering endless color options in micas, metallics, standard and custom colors, two-tone, splatter paint and color-shift finishes. As one of the largest paint lines in the Southeast, Finishing Dynamics not only painted American Metalcraft products, but coated parts for other metal manufacturers as well.
In 2010, American Metalcraft moved locations to join its sister company, Finishing Dynamics in Villa Rica, Georgia. With all operations streamlined under one roof, American Metalcraft controlled the quality of the entire manufacturing process from start to finish. This eliminated shipping between two facilities, saving customers time and money. Having an in-house paint line also provided more freedom to architects and designers—allowing more creative use of color without requiring large minimum orders to get a particular color. As a one-stop resource of metal products, American Metalcraft expanded their product production, offering rainscreen and wet seal systems, custom sunshades, perforated panels, ornamental and brake metal, column covers, and custom fabrications.
Gary’s daughter-in-law, Holly Gotfredson started part-time in 2004, doing contract marketing work for both companies. She eventually moved into a full-time position, learning the business from the ground up. Through an experienced and dedicated leadership team, Holly gained the insight and knowledge needed to grow within the companies over the next two decades. She had a vision for expanding both the American Metalcraft and Finishing Dynamics market, elevating the brands through larger sales and marketing efforts. In 2017, she continued her vision and purchased American Metalcraft from Gary Gotfredson, then purchased Finishing Dynamics in 2021.

American Metalcraft architectural metal products are part of projects across the healthcare, corporate, government, K–12, higher education, sports, and retail industries. Some recent projects include Froedtert Hospital in Wisconsin, SFSU in California, Monument West Science Center in South Dakota, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library in North Carolina, Fort Bliss Hospital in Texas, Philly Live Casino in Pennsylvania, and Purdue University in Indiana.
With long-term leadership and team members as part of both companies, American Metalcraft and Finishing Dynamics offer a wealth of experience, knowledge and custom solutions for the built environment. Professionals in both the architectural and construction communities trust their expert guidance during schematics, product selection, installation and beyond.
