New York City singer-songwriter Craig Greenberg encapsulates how the landscape of modern dating is a unique form of heartbreak where connections can disappear without explanation. In his new single “First Date Ghosted,” out Feb. 27, Greenberg presents ghosting not as a subtle rejection but as an absence of courtesy.
Greenberg, a New Yorker and piano man, has made a career writing and releasing music across the city’s singer-songwriter scene. He has emerged as a multi-award-winning songwriter in New York City, noted for his storytelling-focused writing. Drawing on a narrative songwriting style reminiscent of New York predecessors like Billy Joel, his work emphasizes character, setting, and everyday experiences.
On “First Date Ghosted,” Greenberg draws from a real-life experience, transforming an awkward dating situation into a reflective narrative. The song captures how the anticipation of a first date can quickly lead to disappointment, allowing self-doubt and questions to surface.

Greenberg uses quirky humor to soften the emotional weight of being ghosted, being that individuals use humor to cope with awkward situations in everyday life. The scenario is simple, but the message is profound, as to Greenberg ghosting is not just a missed connection but an inconsiderate act with real emotional impact.
“First Date Ghosted” serves as the fourth single from Greenberg’s forthcoming full-length album, expected later in 2026. The upcoming full-length will mark Greenberg’s sixth album as he continues turning personal pain into art. Greenberg recorded the song at The Ice Plant in Long Island City with Wayne Silver, featuring Hiroyuki Matsuura on drums and Tony Tino on bass, while he performed the remaining parts. Alex Psaroudakis mastered the track.
