Frank DiLella’s theater picks: ‘Hell’s Kitchen,’ Off-Broadway Week and more

With the many entertainment choices New York City has to offer, it can be difficult to make a choice. Look no further. “On Stage” host Frank DiLella has curated a list of “must-see” shows this week, directing you to the best of Broadway, off-Broadway and beyond.

“Hell’s Kitchen”

It’s last call to catch the Alicia Keys musical “Hell’s Kitchen.” The show, which is loosely based on Keys’ experience of growing up in Manhattan, will play its final performance on Feb. 22. And on Feb. 21, Keys will reunite with her original stars — Tony and Grammy Award-winner Maleah Joi Moon; Grammy Award-winner and Tony Award-nominee Shoshana Bean; and Grammy Award-winner and Tony Award-nominee Brandon Victor Dixon — for a special performance following the show.

“The Reservoir”

On the off-Broadway front, check out “The Reservoir” now playing at The Atlantic’s Linda Gross Theater. In the play, the audience will meet Josh, who moves home to get sober. After years of struggles, he discovers a strange connection with his aging grandparents.

Off-Broadway Week

From Feb. 16 to March 12, it’s off-Broadway week in New York City. This means two-for-one deals for a handful of shows such as “Data,” “Going Bacharach” and “Bigfoot!”

The play “Data” is a new thriller that explores the world of AI.

“Going Bacharach”

“Going Bacharach” is a new revue that celebrates the music of the late songwriter Burt Bacharach with his tunes like “What’s New Pussycat?” and “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?”

“Bigfoot!”

The new musical “Bigfoot!” is a larger than life show about corrupt politicians and a misunderstood youth who happens to be 8 feet tall.

And finally, from Feb. 16-21, Tony, Emmy and Grammy Award-nominee Vanessa Williams takes center stage at 54 BELOW. The leading lady promises to take you on a musical trip down memory lane.
