With the many entertainment choices New York City has to offer, it can be difficult to make a choice. Look no further. “On Stage” host Frank DiLella has curated a list of “must-see” shows this week, directing you to the best of Broadway, off-Broadway and beyond.
“Oedipus”
The hit London production of Robert Icke’s “Oedipus” has made its way across the pond and is now in previews at Studio 54. This modern retelling of the Sophocles tragedy stars Olivier Award-winner Mark Strong and Oscar Award-nominee and Broadway newcomer Lesley Manville. Opening night for “Oedipus” is Nov. 13.
“Bat Boy”
Over at City Center, the 2001 off-Broadway cult favorite “Bat Boy” has flown onto the stage. The musical centers around a bat boy who is just trying to fit into a West Virginia community. The show stars some of Broadway’s finest, including Tony Award-nominee Taylor Trensch as the title character and Tony Award-winner Marissa Jaret Winokur. “Bat Boy” is playing at City Center through Nov. 9.

“Tartuffe”
On the Upper East Side, Tony Award-winner Andre De Shields is tackling “Tartuffe” at the House of the Redeemer. “On Stage” recently caught up with De Shields to learn more.

“Coco”
And finally on Saturday, in honor of the Mexican holiday — Día de Muertos — over at The Town Hall in Midtown, catch Disney and Pixar’s “Coco” on the big screen and accompanied with a live orchestra. “Coco” centers on Miguel, who dreams of becoming a musician. “Coco” will play at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
