Soon Staten Islanders will be able to enjoy a salad or a slice of pizza with produce grown at a rooftop farm barely a block away.
This Earth Week, Mayor Eric Adams cut the ribbon of a 32,000-square-foot organic farm at the headquarters of The Nicotra Group, Staten Island’s largest private real estate developer, in Bulls Head. Lettuce, tarragon and tomatoes are among the fruits and vegetables grown at the Brooklyn Grange-operated farm, which also serves as green infrastructure to capture rainwater and reduce flooding in the neighborhood.
