Mayor Eric Adams infuriated a large swath of New Yorkers when he decided last week to allow athletes and entertainers working in the city to perform while unvaccinated. The carve-out for the private-sector mandate, announced at Citi Field, angered labor unions, conservative politicians and mandate-backing liberals alike.
There was certainly logic to what Adams did. After he chose in early March to end vaccine passports for indoor activities, unvaccinated fans were allowed to enter New York sports arenas again.
