The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced new fare reductions for the city’s subway system and commuter rails in a sweeping gambit to lure back riders.
As flexible work-from-home policies become increasingly popular, the MTA is rolling out four temporary fare reduction programs: placing weekly fare caps on One Metro New York transit tickets and adding three discounts to riders on Metro-North and the Long Island Rail Road. The pilot programs begin later this month and will last at least through June.
