New York City employees of dog-gear seller Bark were practically panting at the chance to meet Solo, a 12-week-old Beagle who greeted them in their office building’s lobby this week.
Solo’s appearance was not just a nice bonus for a workforce of dog lovers. The pup is in training to detect the virus that causes Covid-19. The company flew him in from Florida along with two fellow fully trained Covid-sniffing Beagles—Noel and Buddy—to test the idea that identifying Covid with dogs can be quicker, more accurate and cuter than a swab test.
