NY congressional candidate found dead weeks after dropping out of race

A former New York congressional candidate died in an apparent suicide on Tuesday – less than two weeks after he dropped his bid for US House, government officials and reports said.

Afghanistan war veteran Kyle Van De Water, 41, who ran last year for a US House seat that represents part of the mid-Hudson Valley region of New York, was found dead in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, MidHudsonNews.com reported.

Sources told the publication his death was under investigation as a “likely suicide.”
